I say "celebrated" because the 4th feel on a Wednesday.....and if anyone reading this knows Jake at all....Wednesdays stand for Basketball night. : ) So we will be going out for it hopefully this weekend. But we did do a little bit for each other on the day. Jake gave me my favorite roses, and they were so beautiful. I sent a card to Jake in the mail to his work. The card said on the front ... "You're the one I've always dreamed of! You're my object of Devotion! You're my Joy, my Fun, My Life, My Love..." and then on the inside it said..."You're Poultry in Motion!!" (and when you open it it starts playing the chicken dance song.) So inside the card I wrote my own poem to go along with the "Poultry in Motion" and it went like this...

Three years ago Today,

You took me as your Bride.

And on that Day I'd Wish and Pray,

That you'd Never Leave my side.

Through the days, months and years,

Our Love has Expanded and Grown.

With Smiles, Laughs and just a few Tears,

It's hard to believe how Fast it has Flown.

And as we continue on our Journey of Life,

With Many More years, I'm sure.

I Always want to be the Wife,

To Seduce you and Allure.

No other Man could take the Place,

Of my Amazing Husband, my Friend.

You're Handsome with your Scruffy Face,

And Sexy with your Nice Back-end.

I know our Love is Strong and True,

And will continue to last for Years and Years through.

But most of all through Past years and New,

Nothing will Ever Change how much I LOVE YOU!

Happy Anniversary Jake!!! But really, this is what I did. So yesterday at lunch, I decided that I would go downtown and surprise Jake with a cake that I made him....but this was no ordinary cake....this was a freaking awesome candy cake. The entire cake was made out of only candy (and two Tupperware for support)! I did this because Jake doesn't really care all that much for cake, but he loves candy! All of our friends here in Denver know us as the Candy House with the "Candy Corner." So that gives you an idea as to how much he likes candy. But anyways, it took me a few hours to build...so I was sooo freaking excited to give it to him when I was done. How it works is there is two Tupperware of different sizes stacked on top of each other. Inside the Tupperware I filled it with more candy and also little slips of paper that tell him why I love and appreciate him. I then lined up his favorite candy bars along the outside of the bottom and covered the top with starbursts. I did this all with double sided tape....so he can eat it all without having to worry about hot glue. So yesterday I toted this pretty heavy cake (I would say it was at least 5 to 10lbs) up to my office so that it wouldn't melt in the sun, then back down to my car, all the way down town...which from my office was about a 35 minute drive, and up to the 28Th floor of Jake's building....lets just say I had quite a few people give me funny looks while I was in the elevator. ha ha. But anyways, so I get to his floor and I have to tap on the glass doors because you can only get in with a pass...luckily Jake's desk is right by the door. So when I knocked, he looks over....and the look of surprise on his face was priceless! He had no idea that I was going to try to do anything for him at the office...especially since what I did for him at the office last year was given away by others in the office. But it ended up turning out to be really good this year. I took the "Birthday Boy" pin on the front of the cake off and pined it to his shirt. He turned bright red when I showed him how it flashed. :) (Jake's not one for attention...so it was perfect.) So anyways, a bunch of people came over and Jake introduced them to me and took a look at my fine work. He then took me around to meet some of the guys that he works with....since all of the times I have been to the office no one has been there. But then I had to leave because my meter was out....luckily I didn't get a ticket because it had already expired by the time I got back down there....30 minutes goes by fast! But after I left, Jake went out with a few people from work for lunch, and he wore his pin, so I thought that was funny. So then after work, I got home a little bit before he did, so I set up his present display. I decided to print off letters and make my own customized banner. I thought it looked pretty cute. After he came home and I surprised him with that, we went out to one of his favorite places for dinner.....Chili's (we are going to go out to his other favorite place, Texas Roadhouse for a combined Brokeback Birthday Bash (funny inside joke that only Jessica will understand) on Saturday). When we came home he opened up his presents and even did a short modeling with his new compression shorts. After presents we went and played his new Wii game, Star Wars Lego, until midnight. ha ha.....party animals, I know. But that was his day in a nutshell.

Sweetheart, I hope you had a fantastic day and that through it you know how much I am in love with you!!! Well, you should already know that, but hopefully this pushes it over the top. :) You are the most amazing man ever and I am so thankful for you everyday! You may be one year older, and I may point out our age difference all the time :) but you are still young at heart....and it doesn't hurt that you still look 25. :)

I couldn't have asked for a better Eternal Companion then You.

I LOVE YOU!

L Seven....Wenie!!!!

Before I do a HUGE catch up post, I wanted to see if anyone even still checks my blog after my seven month hiatus.

Can I get a wootwoot!?! : )

Second Catch Up!!!

Ok, so I am hoping that with this next post, I can catch it up to the present day...so that I can go back to doing single posts per event. We were able to do a lot that weekend...which made it worth the trip. First on Friday we had an early morning tee off with Jake, Spencer (brother in law), Brandon (Nephew) and I. I had one amazing hole where I almost had a birdie...but ended up settling for par. Brandon, who is 5, did really well. It was fun to do 18 with them. That night my mom, dad, sister Lisa, Spencer, Jake and I went to the San Diego Temple to do sealings. It was pretty special to be there with my family....I always enjoy that. On Saturday, Jake and I went down to the beach to have lunch at the end of the pier. The marine layer was pretty thick that day, but it made for some good pictures. We even saw a pod of dolphins swim by, a crazy lady throwing flowers into the water from her boat, and a seal playing in the water. Later that day we went to the BYU vs SDSU Football game. IT WAS AWESOME!!! :) Jake and I love watching BYU football, but it is even better to be there....especially when it is in the 70's outside!!!! We ended up having to leave a few minutes before the game ended because the baptism had to be moved up....but we ended up winning...and that's all that matters. :) After the game we went straight to the baptism. I had the pleasure of giving the talk on the Holy Ghost. I pretty much cried through the whole thing...because I have giving talks and get really nervous....but hopefully people were able to understand what I was saying and they were able to feel the spirit. The the whole thing went well, and I am so proud of her for making the choice to become a member of the Lord's church. GOOD JOB EMILY!!! WE LOVE YOU!!! That night, we hung out with my sister Jennifer, her husband Cain and daughter Natalie. It really was great to be able to hang out with everyone and to be able to see my family.

October 31, 2009 - We went to the ward trunk or treat Halloween party! It was slightly awkward going and not having kids....but luckily we have such good friends, the Chapman's, that are willing to let us borrow their kids any time we want. :) (Thanks guys! :) ) But it was actually pretty fun seeing all the kids in their different costumes and watching them play the silly games that they had. This is a picture at their house afterwards of Jake and Sophie eating their candy necklaces.....she's in love with her Jake Jake. :)

November - and actually some of October, I was working on a Christmas present for Jake's mom. I am pretty sure that she doesn't read the blog, but Sue, if you are reading this.....get off the site now! :) (You don't want to ruin Christmas!!!) Anyways, I decided that I was going to make a "family tree" quilt for my mother in law....and with a little bit of Jake's help......IT TURNED OUT AWESOME!!! I am really really proud of it. It was my first time appliqueing before....which was done all by hand! Jake was able to draw the tree from scratch for me, and traced all the apples, leaves, and people. Thanks for sharing your homemaking skills with me babe! :) Anyways, each of the items on the tree stand for something. In the middle of the tree, is a heart with Jake's Parents names in it. The apples stand for each one of their siblings (Jake's aunts and uncles) and the leaves stand for their nieces and nephews (Jake's cousins.) The four apples in the corners are their parents (Jake's Grandparents) and the people under the tree are their kids (Jake and his siblings.) After 1 huge tree, 21 apples, 46 leaves, 7 people and 1 heart, my fingers were pretty tired. :) Now I am just waiting for my sister to quilt it together for me. Once I get it back, I am going to be binding the quilt for the first time. But either way I am super proud of it....and if she doesn't like it....then I am taking it back....and having 7 kids. :) haha jk.

November 25 - 29, 2009 - Luckily, Jake and I were able to go to California again! This time we were going for Thanksgiving. For the most part, it was just a weekend to hang out and relax. We saw a lot of family, and a lot of football. :) Actually, probably more football than family, but its all good. We had two Thanksgiving dinners. One with one of my mom's sisters family - The Thompson's - on Thanksgiving day and the second with my sister Jennifer and her family on the Saturday after. On Saturday we also went to a member of my parent's ward to watch the BYU vs Utah game. It was a nail bitter, but luckily Jake was able to keep his cursing to a minimum because they won in OT. :) But even if we do sit around and watch football the whole weekend, it is nice to just be out of the cold and with family. I LOVE CALIFORNIA!!!

December 4, 2009 - We went to a birthday part for our friend Zach Smith. A group of 10 of us tried to go to Dave and Busters but have dinner and play games....but when we got there, the told us that it was going to be a 2 hour wait! Luckily I keep Texas Roadhouse's number in my phone (I know, I'm a nerd) so I was able to call ahead and get us in right away. After the delicious dinner, we went to the Chapman's and played games. My team won, of course. :) haha. It was great to be able to spend time with some of our good friends. HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLD MAN!!! :)

Ok!!!! I should be all caught up....or at least with the really important things....hopefully people still check out my blog.....haha. The day started off with some pictures, then onto the main event, after that more pictures, then off to the Cinderella themed reception where we danced the night away. It really has been great getting to know Zach and Amber more and being able to share their special day with them. We are so happy for you guys!

August 4, 2009 marked the second anniversary of our eternal marriage! Even though Amber and Zach's wedding was absolutely beautiful, I would not change my eternal marriage to Jake for anything! I love knowing that we are together for all eternity and that we continue being married not just until death do us part, but F-O-R-E-V-E-R! (Well when I put it that way, it sounds a little scarry...haha jk) I LOVE YOU MY BAYBA BAYBA!!! :)

August 5, 2009 was the day that Jake finally got rid of the monster inside him that we fondly called Ernie. :) Since we have now been on insurance for over a year, Jake was able to get his hernia that he had had for over 8 years fix. Over the years it had definitly gotten more and more worse, so it has been a blessing to be on insurance and finally get it fixed. Just in the few weeks since the operation, he has already been able to see a difference in his ability to play sports and sneeze. :) haha

August 21, 2009 we traded my baby in for a new set of wheels. Jake and I took my 1998 Jeep and traded it in for a new 2010 Subaru Forester. That was my first car that I owned...and I had a lot of good memories in it. I even teared up when I handed over the title....I know, I'm lame. :) But I'm not going to lie, driving the subaru for a few weeks now....its hard to remember what driving Zelda was like....sorry girl. I am mostly excited to test it out in snow...since Dever doesn't know how to plow. We will see!

September 5, 2009 the Chapman's were nice enough to bring me along to the Denver Zoo with them while Jake was at work....still in busy season. The only two times that I have gone have both been with them....thats because they are awesome! It is a pretty good size zoo though....and it really is a lot of fun to watch how much their two girls enjoy all the animals. Towards the end when we were walking back towards the gate....Sophie started getting tried of walking...so I picked her up to put her on my shoulders....and she ended up falling asleep up there! I dont know how she managed to do it....but she did! I got a pretty good kick out of seeing the pictures that Jessica took with her trying to get comfortable on my head. :) But thanks again guys!

September 11, 2009 was my 24th birthday. It was a pretty good day. It started off with me waking up to say bye to Jake and going into the bathroom to take a shower....and finding a dozen roses on the bathroom counter. (They were beautiful!!) Jake and I had already decided weeks before that we werent really going to be able to do anything on my birthday because he was only 4 days away from his big deadline....so we decided to eat dinner and go shopping the following weekend.....but you know, somehow.....we still managed to go to his soccer game that night...hmmm...... :) (that just makes me the best wife ever to let him play in a soccer game instead of taking me out to dinner) But over all the day was great....thanks for everyone that called and emailed!

September 23, 2009 we finally went out to dinner for my birthday! Which you know, looking back on it now....it really wasnt all that bad because instead of just having my birthday on one day....it ended up being spread acrossed the whole month! We went to dinner with Zach and Amber to Bennihana's. I love that place!!! But it was a lot of fun...even if it was two weeks late. :)

September 25 - 27, 2009 Jake and I had the opportunity to go to Utah. Jake actually left on Thursday and went on a golf weekend with his brothers and Dad down in Mesquite. I came in on Friday to spend the weekend with my Highschool friend Linne who just had a baby in August. It was a fun relaxing weekend for both of us. Some of the courses that Jake played on were beautiful. And Linne's little girl is sooo cute. On that Sunday Jake's Family threw a birthday celebration for me.....which was awesome! I love his family so much! Thanks for the gifts guys!

October 7 - 11, 2209 Jake's siblings, Jordan, Kit, and Maggy came to Denver to visit us. Jordan just left to go into active duty for the Air Force (on October 21), so he wanted a chance to have one last little trip before he left.....and then Kit and Maggy decided that they wanted to join in on the fun...so they came too. It was great having them out....hopefully we didnt bore them to death....because the weather was crappy that weekend....but at least I had a good time! :)

Happy Birthday to the Love of my Life!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAKE!!!!

Happy Birthday to the most amazing man in the world!

Today is Jake's Birthday and what is he doing...of course playing basketball...his second love. :) But I think today was a really good day for him. It started it off with me making him pancakes for breakfast...so of course you already know that it is going to be a good day if it starts off with panckaes. I also gave him two of his presents so that he could wear them to work. During work, he was supposed to go into the main office where I had snuck in the day before and left him a present on his desk....but he ended up going to the other office....so I guess he will get that gift tomorrow... :) But it ended up being good for him since the internet stopped working so he was able to come home early instead of the 7:30 nights like it has been. So when I got home from work we ended up going out to dinner at Jake's favorite resturant...Chili's. After dinner we came back and opened up the rest of the presents. After trying out all of his presents he got dressed and went to go play basketball with his friends. But overall I think he really enjoyed his day and his presents. And even more, I'm sure that he really enjoys being 32!!!

Sweetheart, I hope that you had a great birthday! We went up into the Uinta Mountains with Jake's dad, his 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 brother in law. We were quite the group. :) We left Salt Lake around 4:30am on Thursday morning and drove up to the trail head. When we got there, we all got our packs on (everyone's packs were ranging from around 35 to 60 pounds) and off we went! The hike started off pretty good. The group ended up splitting into two groups....the fast group and the slow group. :) The slow group was comprised of the 4 oldest people in the group...and then me... :) I guess that's what I get for marring an old man! :) (Just Kidding sweet heart!) Anyways, when everyone got to the top of the mountain we all met up again and walked down the other side of the mountain towards Granddaddy Lake. The whole time that we were hiking we were supposed to be looking for this sign that pointed us to another path to take us to the other side of the lake....well....we kept walking....and walking....and walking...and we kept getting closer and closer to the lake...but no sign in sight. Jake's brother Tyson ended up leaving the trail and going down towards the lake and realized that we were on almost the complete opposite side of the lake that we wanted to be on. So at this point, I think everyone started to get a little bit grumpy after having hiked 3 or 4 miles (the total amount of what we were supposed to do) and was now going to have to hike another 2 or 3 miles to get to the spot that we wanted to be at. At this point we decided that we were not going to be fooled again by looking for the sign, so we decided to all go down by the lake and just hike by the lakes edge..........maybe not the best idea. Most of the land around the lake was soggy from snow run off and very difficult to walk across without getting your boots wet. But after getting across the sloppy grounds, we FINALLY MADE IT TO THE PERFECT CAMPSITE! Everyone set up their tents and then gathered together to start setting up the fire area. All of the boys walked around and found the perfect sitting logs and made a lovely area for us to hang out around the camp fire. Overall, the campsite was pretty sweet. Well, after setting everything up, we were all so tired after having woken up at 4am that we all decided to take a nap. We all slept for a few hours...luckily while it was raining (it didn't start raining until we were all asleep). When we all woke up, we built a fire and started cooking the amazing steak dinner that we packed in. :) (yeah, we pretty much ate like a King during this trip...but I guess we paid for it with how heavy most of our packs were. :)). After dinner we sat around the fire and roasted smores and popped pop corn. The first night in the tent though was a little rough...not because it was uncomfortable...because it was actually really nice since we had sleeping pads...it was more because I was paranoid about every little sound that I heard out in the woods. Eventually it started raining again, and I think that helped me fall asleep. The next morning we had another amazing camp meal of bacon, bagels and cream cheese. After breakfast the boys decided that they were going to make spears out of branches with their hatchets and knifes. Once all the boys had all of their spears whittled down to perfection, we all made the hike over to a nearby stream. All of the brothers had their spears in hand and the girls had fishing poles. Well, to make a long story short (because this post is probably going to be so long that no one will read it all) the boys ended up spearing 8 fish and the girls ended up with only 1 fish using their poles! I thought that was pretty funny and ironic. But the best part about that whole trip was when Maggy decided that she was going to catch a fish with her bare hands. As she was bending over for the attack, I was across the stream to capture the victory...when all of a sudden I have this fish fall into my lap! I was a little shocked at first but I was able to compose myself and grab a shot of the floundering fish. :) After that adventure, we all hiked back, cooked up the fish, and hung out for the rest of the night. Luckily that night and the rest of the trip it never rained another drop...we were really lucky. The last full day that we were out there we mostly just hung out around the camp, trying to finish off all the snacks and treats so that we wouldn't have to hike them out. Later in the afternoon, we climbed the rocky mountainside to see the view of the whole lake. This was also nice because it got us away from the tons of mosquitoes that were everywhere around the lake, if you don't believe me...just ask Tyson... :) But after hanging out for a little bit, Jake started throwing rocks at this bigger rock...and naturally we all joined in. It's amazing how even the most simplest games make the competitiveness in us come out. :) After we all threw our arms out and took a few crazy pictures, we walked back to the camp and played a few games with some dice that we brought up. We enjoyed our last night with some more smores and popcorn and got ready for our early morning departure. The next morning, we woke up at 5am so that we could leave camp by 6:30. On our hike back we decided to just climb up the side of the mountain towards where we thought the trail was going to be...and what do you know...we found the trail that Gary was looking for on the way down! In his defence there was so sign like there used to be the last time he came there...but if we ever go back there, we will know right where it is! :) But we ended up leaving so early because on Sunday afternoon one of my new nephews - Gavin Paul Renshaw and a new niece - Reese Renshaw (they are my two brothers kids) were going to be blessed. So we raced down the canyon and arrived at my brothers house straight off the trail. I'm sure we didn't smell all that great and didn't look all that fresh since neither of us had showered since the Wednesday before, but luckily family doesn't seem to care about that all that much. But both blessings were beautiful and both of them are so darling. The sad part about that though is that my memory card was full, so I didn't get a chance to take pictures of them...so these last few are borrowed. :) But that was our amazing 4Th of July backpacking trip. Everything couldn't have gone any better. But for my first backpacking trip ever, I think I kicked butt! If anyone ever wants to go, Jake and I are always up for it! :) I hope everyone had a happy 4th!

Baby Tyson's Blessing

This past weekend my nephew Tyson was blessed. A few of my family members were able to go to Arizona to see the him and be there when he was blessed. My brother in law Spencer did a great job on the blessing. We had a good time the whole weekend. We went off roading to this place where there were a few old houses because my dad wanted to try to metal detecting. I guess the trip was worth it because he ended up finding a 2005 quarter. :) The kids were pretty impressed with it though, and Brandon now wants to be just like grandpa. Over all the weekend was pretty fun. Here is a quick slide show of some of the pictures that I took during the weekend. Enjoy!

A Day At The Air Show

This past weekend Jake and I went to Salt Lake City....(wow, I think 90% of my posts start off that way....hmmmm..... :) ) We went into town last weekend to go to the United States Air Force Air Show. The show was definitely worth the plane ticket and time. The main event that happened was seeing the Thunderbirds perform their air show (the Thunderbirds are the Air Force's Performance team....kind of like the Blue Angels for the Navy). It really is truly amazing to see how closely they fly to each other and all of the different stunts that they do. Our favorite part was when four of the planes flew by the crowd and as everyone had their heads turned watching them fly away, one rouge plane came and buzzed the crowd. The plane was sooooo loud and low to the ground. It scared the crap out of everyone! :) Another awesome moment was when they would fly past each other while one is upside down. Well, I'm sure the pictures can do a better job of describing this than I can. But besides the great Thunderbirds show, they also had a few others shows that happened before the finale. Some included a parachuting group, an F-22, propeller stunt planes, tribute to all of the different planes through the different wars, and tons more. Either way, if you ever have a chance to see them in action, I would definitely recommend it!
I think what made the day really special though was to be at the show with three of Jake's brothers that are all going into the Air Force. The first brother, from the last post, is leaving in October to hopefully fly fighter planes. The other two are in the ROTC program at their school. One of them already has a pilots slot and the other one just started. But we are so proud of all three of them, and are so thankful for their willingness to serve our country. It is because of the military that we are able to enjoy the freedoms that we do....and I am so very thankful for that. Thanks guys!

Enjoy the pictures......there's a lot of them. :)

Yes Ladies, He is Sexy, Single, and Looking!

Well, I don't know if anyone even checks my blog anymore since it takes me so long to post, but here goes nothing. The whole ceremony went really well and was really neat to watch. Jordan actually had over 30 people show up to the ceremony, which I think was about half the room. :) Gotta love the Lawrence family events! :) The next day a few of us gave him some presents for all the hard work that he has put into the ROTC for the past few years. Her dancing, singing and acting were all perfect! On January 17th Jake and I had the opportunity to go to his Grandma's wedding. This is both of their second marriages since both of their spouses died over 2 years ago. The best part of the story is that both couples knew each other when everyone was still alive, which I think is really cute and helps with the whole "second marriage shock." They really are cute together and it is good that they have companionship until they are with their eternal companions again. I am just gald that she has someone to hang out with and watch over her. Congrats Grandma Matheson! (P.S. if I die before Jake and he thinks about getting married again...someone please shoot either her or him....thank you. :) haha.....I'm not very good at sharing. )

Quick Catch Up

Holy Cow! It sure has been a long time since I have done a real post. I almost don't want to do one now...because it seems like it would be easier to not do one than to try to catch up on the past few months of activities....so I am going to do a quick slide show to show everyone all the fun we have been having the past few months. I am going to take you way back to November when we went to Jake's families how for Thanksgiving. Hopefully most of the pictures will explain themselves. I'll try to do better. It was taken from the observation deck.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_pTipOR226jU/SRvC51evrSI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/pGBUYmfAtrc/s400/Motley+(6).JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5268018488004291874" />

This picture is kind of sad... This is Jake's childhood dog Motley. It is Jake's brother Jordan saying good bye to him a few days before he died. :( I am sure he is having a grand old time in doggie heaven with my dog.

You know, this tag has almost made me want to make this a tradition...I feel like I hardly ever post because I dont have anything to post about...so maybe I will just put up random pictures to keep my audience pleased. :) Thanks Leslie!!!

As for those that I am tagging.....
Lisa H., Brittnay R. and Alyssa W.

California Dreaming....

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_pTipOR226jU/SPDlsjd0uHI/AAAAAAAAAO4/kJAayEJidh4/s320/Fall+Trip+(79).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5255953318738704498" />
Well, as sad as it is...Winter is coming...and I can't do anything about it. But in the mean time, Jake and I decided to enjoy the short season that they call Fall. We went up to the mountains to look at the aspen trees changing colors. It was a beautiful sight. If only the seasons would skip winter and just go from summer, fall, spring, summer, fall, spring. :) As you can tell, I am really excited for the seasons to change...haha. In the mean time, the trees were awesome...so enjoy!

ALOOOOOOOHA!!

Jake and I had an amazing week last week. We had the opportunity to go to Hawaii with Jake's family. We rented a beach house on the island of Oahu on the North Shore in a town called Laie. The house was right across the street from the Polynesian Cultural Center, BYU Hawaii, and the temple. The house was right by the water with a beautiful view of the ocean from the back yard. The week was chalk full of awesome activities. We started the trip off with our red eye flight from Las Vegas (where we met up with the fam) and flew to Honolulu. We arrived in Hawaii at 5:20am and the whirlwind started right away. After we got the cars, we found a local breakfast place and had breakfast. From there we went to a place called the Punch Bowl. It is an amazing cemetary and memorial for the men and women that fought in WW2 and other wars between now and then. It was incredible to see all the names engraved on the marble. It made me so thankful for the freedoms that we enjoy from their willingness to die for it. The rest of the day we went onto the military base and went on a supermarket sweep for the groceries for the week. I'm pretty sure that the team that I was on (Jake, Sue and myself) killed everyone else. Our mad skills are nearly unbeatable though. After shopping we made our way up to the beach house. The house was pretty nice. It looked like it had been newly remodeled with new tile, kitchens, and bathrooms. The house was 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom, 2 kitchens, and 2 living rooms. Jake and I were able to snag the master bedroom. It rocked! After dinner, we were all sooo shot that we all passed out for the night.
The next morning was a little bit of a late start, but still productive. We went to this beautiful snorkeling spot called Hanauma Bay. The water was gorgous. The swim was a little rough with a few war wounds amoung the group with Jake scratching his back on the coral and a few of us scratching other parts like knees and arms. The water was so warm and clear. We even saw a sea turtle while we were swimming. Since we started a little late, we had a short day...but I don't think any of us were too upset since we were all still a little jet lagged.
On Tuesday we had a very early morning with leaving the house at 4:45 to get to the Dolphin swim excursion. IT WAS THE BEST PART OF THE TRIP! We went out on a boat with a guide in search for the wild dolphins. During the early hours of the day they come in near shore to play....and boy where they having a good time. Once we found them, and were able to get close enough, we slowly slipped into the water and snorkled with them! They were beautiful! We were able to get about 6ft away from them as they swam right below us. After the dolphins they took us to a spot where sea turtles go to have their shells cleaned off by these special fish. They would just sit at the bottom of the ocean, and then would come up every now and then to get some air. They were a lot bigger than I thought they would be. Next, they took us to this area where there were fish galore! They were all so bright and colorful. Some people had some fish food that they were feeding them, which made the fish go wild. They would swim so close to you and so fast. The whole experience was amazing. After the excursion we went on a short hike up Diamond Head Crater to a look out point at the top. It felt like you could almost see the whole island. The scenery was gorgous.
On Wednesday, we went to Pearl Harbor where we saw the USS Arizona, the USS Bowfin, the USS Missorri, and the Aviation Museum. All of it was great. It is truly amazing how large those ships are! Going onto the USS Missorri, and seeing how big the guns are and the length and height of the ship was just insane. Then seeing what was left of the Arizona poking above the water was heart breaking. It was so sad to look at it and know that there were hundreds of men entoombed inside. And after going onto the submarine...the USS Bowfin...I know that I could never be in one for longer than a few minutes...especially submerged! The Aviation Museum was pretty sweet, especially being there with Jake's two brothers and sister that are going into the Airforce. It makes me proud to have military in my family.
Thursday was a girls and guys day. All of the guys woke up early to go golfing down on the military golf course, while us ladies woke up late to have a fun day of shopping on the North Shore. The guys all got their butts kicked by the newly returned missionary that hadn't played in 2 years...haha. They tried not to let that bruise their egos, but they had a good time anyways. The girls, on the other hand, had a wonderful time going to all of the little shops on the North Shore. We probably all spent a little bit more money than we needed to, but there was just so many cute little knick knacks that we all "had" to have. After shopping and golfing, we drove down and met the boys at a beach called Sandy Beach. We went there with the hope of going boogieboarding, but it ended up not being a very good beach for beginers. Sadly enough Kit, Jake's brother, found this out the hard way by getting flipped off his board and smacked into the volcanic rocks that were hiding under the water. His back got really beat up, but he survived. I think we learned our lesson, because we didn't go swimming there again.
Friday was another late start with us going to the Laie Temple for a 9:00 temple session. The temple is beautiful! There are waterfalls in front of it and palm trees that line the driveway up to it. Being there with all of Jake's family was truly a speial experience (even though I'm pretty sure most of them were asleep during all of it but Grandma, Tyson and Me). Afterwards we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center. That was lots of fun. Seeing how all of the islands are different and special in their own way was really neat. I loved seeing all of the bright outfits and the beautiful dancing. The show at the end of the day was sweet. It went from island to island showing the different dances of all of the islands. I think the fire dancers were my favorite dance.
Saturday was the last day that we were in Hawaii. :( But, we did make the most of it by going snorkeling at Sharks Cove. Once again, the water was so warm and beautiful. We didn't see nearly as many fish as we did on the excursion, but it was still amazing. It was pretty cool to see how much better all of us got at snorkeling as the days went on. After snorkeling we went and got these icees that we heard were amazing.....and they were. And it is a good thing that they were because we stood in line for them for at least 10-15 mintues! They were snowcones with icecream at the bottom of the cones. I got mine as a shake and it makes my mouth water thinking about it. After getting our treat, we finished the trip with going home and making dinner and then making and eating smores.
Overall, I would have to say that it was one of the best vacations that I have been on. If you ever get a chance to go....GO! (and don't forget to take me with you!!!)

These pictures are for the most part in order as I mentioned them above. ENJOY! :)

A Fun Day of Sports

Jake had the opportunity to play in a soccer tournament that his company sponsered. He was by far the best player on the team, and I am pretty sure that he even scored the most points on his team too. His team made it to the Semi-Finals...kind of by default...and then lost in that last game. (I think since his team had to wait around so long for the game before his to finish, no one really wanted to play that last game.) But all in all he did an awesome job...and hasn't lost any of his mad skills.

Later that night, Jake bought some Rockies vs. Padres baseball tickets from a guy at his work. The seats were right on the first baseline 9 rows back from the field. They were beautiful! Not only were the seats amazing though, we won!!! It was an awesome game...especially since everyone around me all of a sudden becomes that much more of a Rockies fan when I am around. (But it is impossible to out cheer me.) Hehe. :) Overall, the whole day was full of fun and excitement.

We Survived The First Year of Marriage!!!

It's true, we did it and we didn't kill each other! We celebrated our first anniversary on the 4th of August. It was a great day. We decided that we didn't really want to spend that much money for it because we are going to Hawaii in 10 days, so we are trying to save a few more pennies for that. When Jake got home from work, I was waiting at the door with a long stem red rose for him. When he walked through the door, he had a dozen assorted roses for me. They are beautiful! It was funny when we were both standing there with roses for each other, but it was cute. After we traded and put them in water, we left to go out to dinner. We went to dinner at Texas Road House (one of our favorite places to eat...if you haven't been, you should definitely go!) After dinner, we came home and watched the first movie that we ever saw together...The Count of Monte Cristo. It was fun to think about where we were 2 years ago, and were we are now. It is amazing how much we know and love each other now, compared to the first date that we went on. I truly do love Jake more than words can say. He is my everything. He has completely changed my life. It is so wonderful to be able to wake up every morning to my best friend. He is such a good example for me, and always loves and supports me. There is no one else that I would be more happy to call my eternal companion than Jake. Being sealed to him for time and all eternity was the best decision that I have ever made, and I give thanks everyday that he waited for me. :)

Jake, Happy Anniversary!

I know that it will only continue to get better and better.

I LOVE YOU!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAKE!

On July 29, 2008, Jake and I celebrated Jake's 31st birthday! I know what you are thinking, Jake looks wayy wayy wayy too young to be 31, I know. His baby face does a good job hiding the years, but its true. We didn't get to do very much because we both had to work, but when Jake got home from work, I had a scavenger hunt waiting for him. It started off by a trail of starburst leading into the apartment to his empty golf bag in the living room. On the bag it explained to him that he needed to find the clubs in order for him to get his present. Clue by clue it lead him around the apartment and even down to the cars. When he left the apartment for the last clue, which was down in his car, I ran into the apartment (I had been hiding in the hallway) and set up his present, a new set of golf clubs, where the old bag was sitting. When he walked in, saw the gift, and unwrapped it, he was sooo surprised! It was the gift that he was dying to get, but I had told him that it was going to be impossible to afford. Well with the help of my mom and dad, and a little cheating on the budget, he got them! He says that it was the best Birthday ever...but I don't know, the birthday i threw for him last year was pretty awesome too. :)

Happy Birthday Sweetheart!!!!

FFF...aka...Forced Family Fun!

Over the past few weeks, both Jake and I have been able to go to family reunions for both of our families. Surprisingly, they were both in Utah. My family reunion was in Orem at my brother's house. It was just my immediate family...my parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 1 grandma, 4 nieces and 2 nephews. Jake's reunion was up in Park City at a lodge. It was his extened family, including his mom's cousins. Starting off with my reunion, we had a weekend full of fun. On the first day we went on a hike, lunch at a park, and a western themed dinner. Friday we competed in silly olympic games, and had a luau for dinner. All of the guys danced for entertainment. Jake did an awesome job...he gives Bieonce a run for her money. :) Afterwards my brother put a huge projector screen up and we watched a movie outside. The last day, we had an unbirthday party for all of the kids and then took swings at a pinata. My sister made a beautiful cake that tasted as good as it looked. That night we went to the Orem Fest and watched fireworks. The weekend all together was great! Jake's family reunion was on the 4th of July. It started out early that morning with a flag cerimony. Two of Jake's brothers, his Dad and one of his brother's friends performed the ceremony in their military uniforms while his sisters sang the national anthem. Jake then gave a little speach about patriotism that went really well. After that, and breakfast, everyone went outside to build their soda bottle rockets and to play Scottish games. They had a log toss, hammer throw, and Scottish relay. I won out of all the girls that threw the log and the hammer. I was pretty proud of myself. After lunch, we were able to launch our rockets! We filled them partially up with water and pumped them full of air....and boom! Some of them launched really high. After dinner, we played games the rest of the night. The rest of the weekend was filled with Home Improvement style house cleaning and maintence at Jake's parents house. His family is frantically trying to finish the bathroom in the basement of the house in anticipation of Jake's youngest brother returning home from his mission on July 23rd. I cleaned Jake's grandma's antique stove in hopes of selling it to an antique dealer. I also puttied the garage in preparation for the first coat of paint ever to be applied to the garage. Jake's family has been living in the house for 23 years........its about time I would say. To finish things off, I helped cut and nail up the sound proof boards on the ceiling so that sheet rock can be put up and paint applied. Jake spent the day putting in insulation throughout the basement with his brother. Jake was also part of the sound proof board installation, along with his brother. All in all we were able to get a lot done.......hopefully Jake's family will be able to finish the bathroom in time. We are so glad that we were able to participate in both family reunions........they were a lot of fun! Thanks goodness for eternal families!!!

Root'n Toot'n Gun Shoot'n Fun!

This past weekend, the Elders Quorum of our ward got together for their very first activity with Jake at the helm. The guys decided to go Shot Gun Shooting. I begged Jake to let me go with them since I am my Fathers daughter, and love to go shooting...but Jake didn't let me. :( But I was glad that the guys got to have an afternoon together and do the manly thing to do. The guys were able to hang out and shoot guns, and then have a nice lunch provided by Aarons mad BBQ skills. Out of the array of guns that they had to shoot, Jakes favorite gun was the Assault Rifle. Overall Jake said that he did a pretty good job shooting, so I was proud to call him my husband.

Thunder! I dont think he is quite as excited about working as I am, but he will get used to it....or at least he better. :) He has been in school for so long that I think it scares him a little bit to know that he will be working for the rest of his life without a summer break. It is so nice to be able to come home and have him be there to hang out with though. Instead of only seeing him for about 40 minutes at lunch and maybe an hour or two when he would get back from class, I get to see him in the morning when we are getting ready for work, and for 4+ hours when we both get back. It's awesome. The only thing that is going to be less than awesome is that his student loans are going to come due soon...and then we will have loans equivalent to the cost of a Large house in Kansas. haha But it is well worth it. Jake is awesome at what he does, and he is going to help out so many people with his abilities. JAKE HAS OFFICALLY FINISHED SCHOOL! After 23 long years of schooling, he will finally be entering the work force with the rest of us normal people. :) Jake has taken a job with KPMG in Denver and will be working in the tax group doing corporate tax returns. After his last week of finals I could hardly recognize him as he neglected to use a razor for the same period.........can you say Grizzly Adams? Actually, he prefers Jeremiah Johnson instead. I had no idea who that was, but after a brief explanation from Jake I have come to learn that Jeremiah Johnson is the title and also the name of the main character in a Robert Redford film where Robert Redford portrays a man who leaves the civilized world to become a mountain man. Jake only wishes that was him. Now its on to studying for the CPA exam, cleaning our cars (the cars haven't seen a car wash in quite some time), and getting Jake to finish my Honey-Do List. In the mean time we will enjoy spending more time together in the evenings and will actually be able to enjoy eating dinner together at a decent hour......say 6pm instead of 9 or 10pm. I will be glad to have him back now that, as he says, "He is a free man!"

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://kimandjakelawrence.blogspot.com/2008/06/dr-jacob-lawrence-esq-llmsoon-to-be.html' title='Dr. Jacob Lawrence Esq.
